Precisely's new Platform is a unified data management solution built to prepare more enterprise data for AI use, with MCP support and an AI Studio.

Mainframe-to-cloud and data integrity vendor Precisely states it rests on a single metadata and semantic foundation. It delivers data integration, quality, governance, location intelligence, master data management, and customer communications functions to build a trusted data layer for AI models and agents. Enterprise data resides across cloud environments, data lakehouses, on-premises systems, and legacy platforms including mainframe and SAP. The Precisely Platform offers a unified approach to manage and improve data in its original location, eliminating the need for migration into one single data ecosystem. Its integrated data management functions share common services for semantics, data cataloguing, observability, data pipelines, workflow, and AI management.

Precisely Chief Product Officer Matt Waxman, previously with Arctera and Veritas, said: “Agents don’t pause to question incoming data. They act on it at scale, far faster than humans can detect and fix errors. The core challenge is understanding what data is being consumed, whether it is fit for purpose, and whether proper governance and accountability exist. The Precisely Platform gives business leaders visibility and proof points to scale AI responsibly and with confidence.”

Precisely carries a long history spanning 58 years, originating from Whitlow Computer Systems founded in New Jersey in 1968 with its SyncSort product, which outperformed IBM’s native mainframe data sorting software and became a widely adopted independent sorting tool.

Whitlow rebranded as Syncsort in 1981. It acquired Trillium in 2016 and Pitney Bowes’ software and data business in 2019, expanding beyond its core mainframe and IBM i/AS400 sorting and data movement work into analytics platforms. The Pitney Bowes acquisition added capabilities for data cleansing, matching, third-party enrichment and location context. The firm rebranded to Precisely in 2020, refocusing its value proposition around data integrity across integration, quality, enrichment and location rather than mainframe and i/AS400 connectivity.

Backed by private equity investors Clearlake Capital and TA Associates, the company’s core focus now centers on unlocking mainframe data for analytics and AI while preserving existing transactional workloads.

It has unveiled three new offerings designed to improve the quality of data fed to AI models and agents. The Precisely Platform includes native data enrichment and location intelligence, with hundreds of pre-linked datasets covering location and business attributes. Address verification and geocoding validate, cleanse and standardise addresses and assign coordinates to each record. Spatial analytics help users uncover and visualise patterns, trends and relationships within location-based datasets. These functions build a connected, machine-readable world model that AI can leverage for better informed decisions and more effective actions.

End users can access and apply Platform features directly within their existing tools, workflows and AI models without changing their working patterns. Access options include Gio, Precisely Platform’s AI assistant, alongside APIs, SDKs and a command-line interface.

New Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, announced concurrently, expand connectivity across multiple Precisely products. This lets teams link the Precisely Platform and their existing Precisely deployments directly to MCP-compatible AI clients such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT.

MCP support
Initial MCP server support enables MCP-ready AI agents and assistants to operate across the Precisely Platform suite, covering:
---Precisely Automate: triggers and interacts with SAP automation workflows while maintaining the organisation’s governed business processes.

---Precisely Data360: prepares and analyses data via Data360 Analyze to build, inspect, update and run data flows.
---Precisely EngageOne: connects customer communications workflows through EngageOne RapidCX, including launching new communications, reviewing activity and customer engagement history; all requests are user-scoped and logged for audit.

---Precisely EnterWorks: enables natural-language search across master data, simplifying data discovery without requiring navigation of complex MDM structures.

---Precisely Spectrum: delivers trusted address verification, geocoding, data enrichment plus job and dataflow management.
---Precisely Trillium: cleanses, matches and validates records using validated business rules.
---Precisely Syncsort: optimises mainframe sorting; it explains messages, troubleshoots jobs, and generates sort, copy, and merge logic based on Syncsort MFX documentation and knowledge base materials. These capabilities will roll out over the coming months.

AI Studio
Precisely also launched Precisely AI Studio, a library of ready-built apps, agents and skills for AI developers. Its assets work with AI tools including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT. Developers can skip building from scratch using practical examples demonstrating how to prepare data for AI using built-in Precisely Platform capabilities such as data quality and enrichment.

Availability
The Precisely Platform is currently in preview and scheduled for general availability in early 2027.
